Due to a recent bug introduced by Microsoft to their Visual C++ Redistributable, you may encounter issues when using ACDSee if you have previously updated your Visual C++ Redistributable to version 14.50.35710.

This old version of the Redistributable may have been updated automatically if you installed the previous version of Visual Studio 2026 (either Insiders or the official version). We have confirmed that other software is encountering similar issues, such as in these posts: (1) Calling-omp_set_dynamic and (2) Installing Visual Studio 2026 Insider Preview C++ breaks Apps.

Microsoft has released a new update for the Visual C++ Redistributable to address the problem. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue you may encounter in ACDSee when starting the program:

1. Close the ACDSee program if it is running.
2. From your browser, open the webpage: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads
3. Under the “Visual C++ Redistributable v14” section, download the latest “x64” version. This is the direct link: https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe
4. Install “Visual C++ Redistributable” after downloading.

If you have used the previous workaround to add the earlier version of “vcomp140.dll” to ACDSee’s application folder, you can remove this dll file after updating the Visual C++ Redistributable.
