With Windows explorer, navigate to the ACDSee database folder. The location of the ACDSee database folder depends on the version that you are using, please look up the applicable folder in this Solution Article.

For example, for ACDSee Ultimate 2023, the database folder path is C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\ACD Systems\Catalogs\160Ult\Default"

Please try the following steps to reset the index and thumbnail cache file in the ACDSee database folder:

  1. In Windows Explorer, click the View Button and ensure 'Details' is selected.
     
  2. Click Type Column. All the files will now be sorted according to their file types.
     
  3. Delete all the 'CDX' files, and 'Thumb1.fpt', 'Thumb2.fpt' and "Thumb3.fpt" Please note deleting thumb1.fpt, thumb2.fpt and thumb3.fpt files will result in the loss of the contents of offline media.
     
  4. Re-start ACDSee
